SCS SB 513 -- ST. LOUIS POLICE
CO-SPONSORS: Kennedy, Coleman (Daus)
COMMITTEE ACTION: Voted "do pass by consent" by the Committee on
Local Government by a vote of 13 to 0.
Under current law, vacation leave based on years of service and
paid holidays are given to members of the St. Louis Police
Department at the discretion of the St. Louis Board of Police
Commissioners. This substitute removes the discretion of the
board, making vacation leave mandatory as stated in the statute.
FISCAL NOTE: No impact on state funds.
PROPONENTS: Supporters say that the substitute corrects a
mistake made in legislation last year.
Testifying for the bill were Senator Kennedy; St. Louis Police
Officers Association; and St. Louis Police Leadership
Organization.
OPPONENTS: There was no opposition voiced to the committee.
Others testifying on the bill were Board of St. Louis Police
Commissioners.
